In these challenging times, it is fantastic to see so many who want to volunteer to help and support our health and care services. The safety of volunteers and staff that support them is paramount, which is why we have pulled together guidance and learning so they can either: continue to volunteer where it is safe to do so; or prepare for volunteering when the risks are reduced.

There are resources to ensure that volunteers understand what COVID-19 is, and what it means for them. There are also free COVID-19 materials accessible via Helpforce’s partners at e-Learning for Healthcare.

For volunteers who are ready to help and have time to prepare whilst they are waiting to start, they can complete e-learning using the National Volunteer Standards. For volunteers already supporting Trusts with their time, they will find refresher sessions on Roles and Responsibilities and Infection Prevention and Control reminding them of the importance of protecting themselves and others.

For those who are already volunteers, but have been asked to self-isolate, there are courses and links here for them to keep their mind and body active in the coming weeks.
