Quietly supporting the local ambulance service
25th November 2020
Submitted by Matt Fisher, London Ambulance Service Wimbledon Station
During the pandemic, this local group of volunteers, the Old Ruts and Dons Local Action Group, have been getting food and essentials to the local elderly and vulnerable. They have also been supporting the local ambulance stations, the hospitals at St Helier and Kingston and other key workers at the London General Bus Depot. Their deliveries have stretched to the boroughs of Merton Sutton and Kingston supporting those who have had to shield.
Their work has been amazing and tireless. Here at Wimbledon Ambulance Station we receive deliveries of fresh veggies, drinks, snacks and ready meals at least 3 times a week. They also support our colleagues at St Helier and New Malden ambulance stations. Go to their twitter account @DonsLocalAction. which shows the amazing amount of work they are quietly doing.
