Young volunteer Khadiza is an inspiration

Barking

Twenty year old Khadiza volunteers with the Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Trust and is an inspiration and testimony to young people. She brings her youth and an abundance of positivity whenever she is volunteering, providing a positive image of how young volunteers can truly represent a diverse community.

Khadiza fully understands her role as a Wayfinder volunteer. It keeps her busy and the day is varied. Her day usually includes general conversation with patients who are queuing to enter the hospital, takes patient property / belongings to the wards and trolley runs. She also has a full understanding of how to support patients / visitors who may have Mental Health concerns, dementia or a learning disability.

Khadiza has always been consistent and passionate about her role supporting patients. She has completed the National Volunteer Certificate and the feedback from an independent assessor was outstanding.

“ I met with Khadiza Siddika today 29 June 2021, to do her National Volunteer Certificate Assessment, and can confirm that she has successfully been signed off. It was an absolute pleasure to watch Khadiza in her role as wayfinder in the main atrium at Queen’s Hospital.”

“She has taught me so much about volunteering, that I just never knew. It’s been wonderful for me to see the impact of volunteers”.
