Aboout the role:

Helpforce’s ‘volunteering innovations’ are a key element of our strategy for growing and improving health volunteering in the NHS and wider health system.

Critical to our work is being able to build a robust evidence base of impact across four areas – patients, staff, volunteers and the system. The volunteer innovations cover a range of key activities; for example End of Life to ensure no-one dies alone, mobility & exercise to reduce frailty, and theatre/surgery support to reduce anxiety and improve post-operative outcomes.

We are looking for a research assistant to set-up and provide on-going support to various hospitals to help them evaluate their impact. The Research Assistant will work with and report to the Head of Research, and he/she will also work closely with Helpforce’s Regional Leads, Innovation Manager & Learning Network, NHS trusts, and other stakeholders & funders – in particular Marie Curie and NHS England – to ensure robust and timely delivery of data and insights.

We anticipate the Research Assistant will also support other work streams of Helpforce’s overall Research and Evaluation strategy – such as the Impact and Evaluation Toolkit.
We expect this to be up to 35 hours of work per week in various flexible locations. It can be primarily home based, and will involve frequent travel to our London office, to the NHS trusts across England, and to venues around the UK.
