Dean has been volunteering with us for over four years, during which time he has played a key role in helping us get our Restraint Debrief volunteer role off the ground, keeping it going, and securing our grant from Helpforce. He also helps with the mobile shop facility at Highgate Mental Health Centre. As well as undertaking peer mentoring with patients in our inpatient settings with Voiceability, he strives to give patients a voice, and supports services to improve for all.

Always contributing where he can, Dean uses the valuable, up-to-date insight gained from his regular contact with patients and service users to make a real difference and bring about constructive changes and improvements. His passion for using his lived experience of mental ill health and recovery in a positive way to support others is evident in everything he does. He demonstrates openness, honesty, empathy and compassion, which coupled with his friendly, positive and caring disposition makes him well-respected and liked by both patients and colleagues. He is a fantastic role model and inspiration for patients.
