Helpforce is excited to announce the launch of a recruitment drive for new Trustees and, for the first time, Associate Trustees.

As the UK’s only charity solely dedicated to advancing high-impact volunteering across healthcare, it is seeking passionate, skilled, and diverse individuals to help shape its future and amplify impact.

Over the past nine years, Helpforce has built a formidable reputation for delivering innovative, evidence-based volunteering programmes that improve the lives of patients, staff, and volunteers. Partnerships with over 100 NHS and VCSE organisations have enabled the organisation to co-design and embed solutions that address some of the most pressing challenges in healthcare. From the award-winning Back To Health programme - supporting over one million people across the UK - to the pioneering Volunteer to Career initiative, which helps volunteers transition into fulfilling NHS roles, Helpforce’s work continues to demonstrate the transformative power of volunteering.

The charity is now looking to strengthen our Board with new Trustees who bring a broad range of skills, experiences, and perspectives. Applications are particularly welcomed from individuals with backgrounds in volunteer leadership, the VCSE and healthcare sectors, NHS clinical practice, and public affairs. Above all, those with a passion for volunteering and community impact are sought.

This year also marks the introduction of an Associate Trustee role - a non-voting position without the same legal liabilities as Trustees. We are seeking Associate Trustees who bring specific expertise to Board discussions, for example direct experience of healthcare volunteering, as well as individuals from a broad range of backgrounds who hold a desire to contribute to strategic leadership. They will receive mentoring and play an active part in Board discussions, helping to shape the future of Helpforce and the sector.

Jayne Blacklay, Chair of Helpforce, said:

“I am continually inspired by the dedication and passion of those who step forward to support our mission. By joining our Board as a Trustee or Associate Trustee, passionate individuals can help us unlock the full potential of volunteering to transform healthcare for patients, staff, and communities across the UK. Together, we can drive innovation, champion inclusion, and ensure that volunteering remains at the heart of a compassionate and resilient health system.”

Helpforce is committed to improving the diversity of its Board, including ethnicity, socio-economic background, and connections to underserved communities.
