If you are lucky enough to have a volunteer in your service, we hope you have one like ours. Kevin Garrod has volunteered in Wirral Heart Support Services part of Wirral Community NHS Foundation Trust, for over 2.5 years he is an absolute asset to our team. Kevin attended the our cardiovascular rehabilitation program and wanted to ‘give back’. Kevin’s happy caring nature and “can do” attitude is a joy and pleasure. Kevin comes into Heart support service a few times per week. He assists patients in Cardiovascular Rehabilitation gym, helping them to gain confidence using the exercise equipment and sharing his own patient experiences. Kevin also works in the heart support admin office, supporting the team with tasks, contributing to the smooth running of the department. In addition to his role at Heart Support, Kevin has assisted other departments including Quality and Governance for 8 weeks data inputting which had a significant impact.

“Kevin Garrod has been a massive help to us in the admin office for over two years. He is always enthusiastic and helpful, greeting patients, pulling patient notes, dealing with faxes, filing, making all-important hot beverages to keep us all going, and being an all-round support to everyone. He travels a long way to get to us and is always willing to do extra days.” Becky, Senior Admin Officer

“It is fantastic that people like Kevin want to support our department and community trust, he definitely enhances the service.” Nicky Service Manager

Kevin’s reliability, continuing hard work and dedication is deserving of an abundance of praise and thanks from the Heart Service and Wirral Community NHS Foundation Trust, without volunteers like Kevin who helps to greatly enhance services, our department and trust would be lost.
