Nina Littler has been a weekly ward helper for the Trust since May 2019. Since the Covid-19 pandemic started, she has supported our Volunteering Services on a daily basis, week in week out. As a senior volunteer before and through the pandemic, she has supported both the Volunteering Services team, coached newly recruited public volunteers, and re-introduced new and existing volunteers into ward helpers.

She was the first volunteer on a 'red' Covid ward, and supported many others in the deployment of volunteers on such wards. So far she has coached more than 50 volunteers as ward helpers in red and green zones, and is the daily contact for any queries. She has helped to create a confident and self sufficient ward helper team, who receive daily praise from the clinical staff and the patients.

She has also actively been involved in developing and adapting the Volunteering Services during the Covid pandemic due to her relationships with staff on the wards, the volunteers and the volunteering team, and she has a keen eye where volunteers can provide support.

As the volunteering manager for Chelsea & Westminster Hospital I can honestly say that Nina has been an asset and a vital member of the team during the pandemic. Her full dedication, her daily attendance, her drive to support other volunteers in their roles has made a huge impact on all involved: staff, patients and the other volunteers. We are so grateful for her enthusiasm, her input and her daily smiley face. She really deserves this extra recognition.
