Trevor first attended one of our patient engagement events four years ago. It was there that Trevor decided to sign up to be a PLACE (Patient Led Assessment of the Care Environment) assessor. Through his work as a PLACE assessor, he saw an advertisement to become an A&E Buddy. Through this, Trevor was asked to represent patients on our Patient Experience Group (PEG) and help to train our young nurses though our Preceptorship training programme.

Trevor has a heart of gold. He is clever, funny and constantly goes out of his way to ensure our patients have a better experience, whether that be in A&E where he spends most of his time, or during one of his many PLACE assessments which are carried out annually. He does everything with a smile and nothing, absolutely nothing, is too much for him. He always puts our patients first. He is truly inspirational. Patients love him, and the team he works with love him. I would have a Trevor in every team if I could. He is an absolute credit to our Trust and our local community and deserves to be recognised for the work he does.

Trevor ensures patients comes first and he helps his team improve processes to enhance our patients’ experience. Trevor works in probably the most terrifying and fast-moving department in our Trust, yet this doesn’t worry him. I have never met such a compassionate man.
