Janet Potts 22 Awards

Janet is a Macmillan Volunteer in Beauty Therapy who has also been trained as a Look Good Feel Better Volunteer in Partnership with the Trust for those who have been diagnosed with Cancer. Janet is a beauty therapist who helps women, men and teenagers feel better about themselves by holding virtual workshops (pre covid it would've been face to face workshops) in partnership with LGFB. Janet has successfully transferred her skills to digital to organise online workshops that help all cancer patients look good and feel better about themselves.

Janet also splits her time by volunteering in the Macmillan Unit when a patient would like a beauty therapy treatment to help lift their mood. Janet also helps any patient with skin care treatments. Janet has been volunteering for 21 years plus and is dedicated and enthusiastic from the day she started. She shares her skills and tips as a beauty therapist to help others feel great about themselves when they are going through a really tough time. She is passionate about her volunteering role and is a true ambassador to beauty therapy and how something as simple such as a new lipstick colour can make someone feel special and uplifted for that day. Janet has had to update and learn new I.T. skills since COVID impacted on how workshops for LGFB moved from being face to face to online. Janet has embodied this new way of connecting with people who have been diagnosed with cancer.

Janet worked hard to develop her digital skills when having to organise and take part in the online workshops. This has had a significant impact on the community as it allowed those who would've been isolated through Covid to take part and meet others going through similar situations. Janet is a very warm, friendly and approachable person. She is a very skilled beauty therapist and nothing is ever any bother to her. She works tirelessly in fund raising for beauty products and she will go out of her way to help anyone feel better about themselves. This is especially important if someone is finding it difficult to adjust to the visible and psychological side effects of treatments. Janet just exudes passion when it comes to uplifting someone's spirits by simply telling others how it can make a person feel when she walks into the room and offers a beauty treatment of a simple skin care regime. Janet is very humble about giving up her time to help others.
