Ben Weller was completing his first year of university when he found himself studying back home in lockdown. Initially Ben wasn't sure what to do with himself, so he got in touch to see if he could volunteer for a few months. Ben was keen to get started as soon as possible so that he could gain some experience with the Trust. Ben was one of our first volunteer recruits who went through our remote on-boarding and induction experience.

He tested out new processes, showed us how to use online apps to get vaccination records from GP’s, and was able to start volunteering quickly. Ben managed to juggle his time between studying and volunteering and was able to volunteer with us for 3 days a week

Ben has been able to help with anything we have asked, be it sorting through donations or ensuring that wards have iPads so that video calls can be made between patients and their loved ones. Ben really helped to make a difference when we asked him to provide a set of instructions for a Quran cube. He quickly tested the cube and pulled together an instruction pack which really helped to support our chaplaincy team. This is just one example of where his skills have been an absolute asset to the team.
