Our current projects
Helpforce works with a wide range of partners in health, care and the community. This page tells you about our current projects and partners.We are working with 45 organisations on over 100 projects – developing volunteering services that solve important challenges and evaluating their impact. We are in partnership with hospitals, hospices and organisations in the community.

Working with ICSs to support up to 200,000 people
ICS Back to Health Programme
About the programme:
Building on our existing pioneering work with six ICSs, Helpforce is developing major volunteering projects to generate learning across the system: the ICS Back to Health programme.
Our partners:
Funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, we are currently signing up ICSs to work with us.
Objectives:
- Share learning and good practice
- Call 40,000 people before or after hospital treatment
- Refer 30,000 people for support from local community services
- Support more than 20,000 people's recovery in hospital
- Help 10,000 medically fit people get home from hospital faster
Duration:
The project will run for three years, starting in 2024
Integration across place at scale
Back to Health Pathway – George Eliot Hospital
About the project:
Based on Helpforce’s established Back to Health Framework, Helpforce supported George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust (GEH) to develop and evaluate a pathway of volunteering services across the hospital and community.
Our partners:
GEH, Warwickshire North Place Based Partnership
Key outcomes:
- Over 40,000 people supported
- 111 weeks of productivity gain
- 5.8% reduction in missed appointments
Duration:
The initial phase lasted two years and the project is now being extended to other hospitals, with the introduction of AI tools to target volunteers’ calls to people awaiting treatment.
