Hey Folks,

I would be interested on ideas and thought around what motivates your volunteers to, well volunteer for you! I work on programme for a local authority with the local community on public health matters and in particular health inequalities. But, its proving challenging, due to a number reasons. Any ideas and thoughts were fellow Helpforce colleagues have found ways to overcome volunteering recruitment challenges will be most welcome!

Umit, while we do not necessarily have a challenge in recruiting volunteers, one of the things that we did within one community area was to do a Menti interactive word map (google it and I am sure you will find a link) we asked a question 'Why do you volunteer with us?' and this collected the words entered by the volunteers, making the more common words larger. This has enabled and reminded us on why volunteers want to and volunteer with us. We can use this to then target some of the narrative used in any campaign messages. We also want to carry it out around other counties we cover, to see what culture and motivations are there within different communities.
