Hi Pat
I wonder if @Laura Shalev-Greene might be able to help? Laura is head of volunteering at Kingston Hospital and kindly shared her trust's virtual volunteering innovations on last week's webinar.
With the increasing emphasis on virtual volunteering roles I'm sure that many network colleagues are having similar challenges so this is a really useful discussion - thank you for starting it!
Best wishes
Sally

Thank you Sally, a discussion with our bereavement team earlier raising lots of questions e.g. debriefing and support after calls, complexity of calls if volunteers work from home. Also workstreams that could come out of this too, which gives opportunity of counselling courses for volunteers. Any discussion will be good on this subject for sure.

Hi all,
I was privileged to be in a webinar last week where someone mentioned a team in their trust that used volunteers to make calls and they were looking at equipment i.e. mobile phones (possibly laptops/iPads) to enable volunteers to make calls from their homes. They mentioned that it could prove expensive because of the hi-tech required but they also had concerns regarding the data protection and that it would prove costly if there was a breach. I cannot remember the ladies name that raised it.
However, today Neil Churchill (NHS England and NHSI) in the VIP launch mentioned the "Check-in and Chat" programme by NHS Responders.
My question is - has anyone else had problems getting around the Data Protection issue and if you have managed to crack this, would you kindly share what you did? If it is a no go area, please share your findings in that regards too, just need some light on this subject.
Many thanks for you assistance.
