I am at the start of setting up the End of Life Care Volunteers Virtual programme.

I am just wondering if anybody else is going down the virtual route with a companion service? How are you finding it and have you came across and hurdles along the way?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Martin

Hi Martin,

I'm afraid that I can't help with regard to advice, but will be following this with interest and would love to share any guidance or examples that you receive. We'd be very interested to set up something similar.

Hi @Martin Lammie and @Laura Shalev-Greene ,

You might be interested in joining the End of Life Care group where there is a dedicated discussion forum and some resources that might be useful. We learnt on a recent virtual check-in that Hywel Dda health board in Wales are developing virtual companion roles (early stages) - volunteer lead @Carys Stevens is a member of the group and might be able to help.

Very best wishes

Sally

@Martin, Powys Teaching Health Board is also setting up a virtual end of life care volunteering service, which went live just before Christmas. If you email me fliddell@wcva.cymru, I can put you in touch

If you haven't seen Kathryn Mannix talking about dying, you can watch this short video on BBC Ideas
