In a nut shell: Patients are assessed by the Adult Psychological Support team and then referred to the service before being matched up with volunteers who call every week to chat about anything and everything.

The hospital volunteers at South Tees who made a massive difference during pandemic - and now have NHS jobs
Almost 100 hospital volunteers, who dedicated their time to helping others during the pandemic have now been hired in roles from ward clerks to medical record officers
Since the start of the covid-19 crisis, over 500 local people signed up to South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s therapeutic support programme. Lead nurse for therapeutic support, Debi McKeown, has overseen as the valuable volunteers supported patients and staff throughout the trust and contributed to a positive hospital experience for all.

Volunteer Recruitment Day at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust
Northampton General Hospital will be holding their first ever Volunteer Recruitment Day on 12 May 2021.
To accommodate everyone they are running two sessions during the day and will also have some of their volunteers at the event to answer any questions and give an insight into the world of Volunteering at NGH.
