We have been running a volunteer driver service and volunteer settle in services for around 8 years now... Its a really successful role and I would be more than happy to advise/share resources.

@Sally DysonHI Sally, that's amazing and sounds like a very successful role. It would be great to share ideas and resources. our generic email address is tsdft.volunteerwithus@nhs.net

Hi, We have received a request from our discharge lounge who would like volunteers to carry out the following:
Main purpose:
To support and drive “walking/ Independent patients” back to their home, aid them getting in with hand hold and ensure they are settled with Pendent Alarm system, Packed lunch (given by DCL) and fluids. Helping to aid safer discharges and support patient discharges.
Key tasks: Supporting Patients getting home on time, carrying bags, some light paperwork to go with patient. Once home, help them in and get them comfortable with light refreshments provided by DCL, settle them in with nearby phone or call pendant alarm ( if have one)
NOK will be contacted by charge nurse on duty so that the family is aware.
Does anyone have this role or a role similar that you could advise us on?
