Pharmacy Stock Management Volunteer

Purpose:
To assist with stock management at the inpatients pharmacy at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Duties (what you will be doing):

  • Loading the pharmacy robot for drug distribution
  • Filing and archiving of stock request forms, BLISTs, picking lists and invoices. Including matching credit notes and invoices to the relevant orders.

Boundaries (what you won’t be doing):

  • No clinical care of patients
  • No dispensing
  • No invoicing queries
  • No management of complex issues such as drug recalls

Time commitment:
The pharmacy is open during weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm
Any volunteer needs to commit to at least one shift of a few hours per week, for a minimum of six months

Requirements of the role:

Age: You must be 16 years or older to volunteer in this role

Accessibility:
This role is accessible to people with wheelchairs or who have other mobility issues

Skills and other requirements:

  • You must be self-motivated
  • You must be punctual and dependable
  • You must have a professional and friendly demeanour
  • You must sign in and out of shifts using the My Impact app – this is essential so the Volunteering service knows your whereabouts
  • You must report to the Volunteering Hub before your shift (unless you volunteer on a weekend or evening shift)
  • You must follow Trust guidelines on reporting any Covid symptoms, practising social distancing, wearing PPE (which the Trust provides), and practising good hand hygiene


Pre-placement checks and training:

  • You will need to complete a standard criminal record check (DBS) which we will pay for and facilitate
  • You will receive a core volunteering induction
  • You must complete all associated core/mandatory training
  • You will also receive a local induction and extensive training on how the pharmacy operates

Personal development:

You will gain experience of working in a busy pharmacy and dynamic environment. Your support will make a real difference to our patients. This role offers extensive training and support related to pharmacy work.
