Befrienders Volunteer Role

BEFRIENDERS

To bring some sunshine and friendship to patients within St Andrew’s Healthcare

Hours: Approximately 1 hour per fortnight

Period: Due to the nature of this role, a minimum of 12 months is helpful for this position

Days: To be arranged on a day convenient to you (You choose which day or days you would like to volunteer on)

Training: Befriender and Patient Visitor Training will be provided for this role

Duties: You will be matched with a patient who has similar interests, cultural background, language or experiences as you. To meet with them for a chat, coffee, walk, activity etc. This is a particularly valuable and rewarding volunteering role, as Befrienders are sometimes the only visitors some of our patients have.

Requirements: If you would like to join our sociable, pro-active and award-winning team to help make a real and positive difference in our patient’s lives, then you could be the volunteer we are looking for. Are you reliable, non-judgemental, warm, friendly and a good listener with a good sense of humour and good communication skills?
