Thank you to the Voluntary Services at St Andrew’s Healthcare, Northampton for sharing this role description.

EVENTS VOLUNTEERS

Help staff organise events for patients or join staff to help patients enjoy fun activities and events

Days/Hours: Events Volunteers will receive email updates about upcoming events, you can sign up to the ones you are free for and/or interested in. (Events Volunteers often do this role alongside another volunteering role). You choose which days/dates and events you would like to volunteer at. Due to the nature of the role, a minimum of 6 months is helpful for this position, during which time we would appreciate if you volunteer at a minimum of 3 events

Duties: Events Volunteers will not escort patients on a 1:1 basis. Events Volunteers can either help organise events or just be there on the day to help out. If helping out on the day of an event, you will usually join staff in taking patients from the wards to the event or will be at the event already to help out with the activities when the patients arrive.

Your role will be to participate in the activity, mingle with and talk to patients whilst they enjoy it. It may also include marshalling at walk/run events, setting up or manning a stall or activity, serving refreshment etc. Events may be ward based or within the grounds and include such things as - Patient Party’s, Christmas Fayre, Easter Extravaganza, Fun Run/Walks, Dance events, Treasure Hunts, Patient walks with our PAT dogs etc. If you would like to utilise skills/gain experience by helping to organise these or other activities, the team would be glad of your support.
