Jo Jarvis, Volunteer Services Manager, Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust talks about the volunteers who work with procurement and staff to recycle, repair and re-purpose as much furniture, mobility aids and other items, as possible.

Joseph Courtney, Green Therapy Development Officer, Bradford District Care Foundation NHS Trust talks about the positive impact green therapy is having on patient and volunteer well-being.

Equipment recycling

  • Swap-Shop page on intranet where staff post equipment, admin tools, furniture and all sorts of things that one department/team does not want/need any more and other departments contact them to collect and use that item.

Finding volunteers for gardening projects.

  • Reach out to allotment groups.
  • Horticultural students
  • Local businesses who are seeking volunteering opportunities for their staff wellbeing.
  • Ashford and St Peter developed small areas of outside space partnering with RHS advice and now have 11 new small garden spaces maintained by staff groups.
