My position as Voluntary Services Manager for The Princess Alexander Hospital, St Margaret’s Hospital and Bishops Stortford Hospital requires a responsibility for growing and sustaining my community ‘volunteering footprint’ for the benefit of people living in Harlow I work hand in hand with Volunteers and the Hospital Staff to encompass the delivery of organisational training programmes and the evaluation of success. This comes from working collaboratively with our Patient Experience Team to become aware of the areas of need for Volunteer support. Alongside this I create a induction plans that are delivered with the Heads/Ward Managers of the specific areas that require the Volunteers. My role includes providing advice and links with the relevant internal and external stakeholders. Evidence that this is working already has emanated in building my relationships with Community Fundraising, Web Designers and Specialist Liaison Teams. I am also linked with Schools, Colleges’ SEN Services and local, Voluntary Support groups. I am able to  share the knowledge I gained as Volunteering and Community Officer for London at the Stroke Association and the experience of my ‘previous life’ of 26 years in Education.
