In our trust, volunteering comes under the Patient Experience department which also includes PALS, complaints, and Patient Information. Patient Experience is currently undergoing a restructure, so we are trying to find out some information from other trusts regarding the structures of their volunteer service.

At Homerton there is only me (Volunteer services Coordinator) that runs the service. This includes, creating role descriptions, advertising, recruitment, induction, overseeing the day to day running of the volunteer service. We have approximately 100 volunteers at present.

I would like to find out the following from other Trusts.

What department does volunteering fall under at your Trust.

What is the volunteer team structure (how many in team, he structure and bandings).

How many volunteers do you have.

Many thanks

Hi Dawn

Here are my responses from Salisbury NHS FT

Which department does volunteering fall under at your Trust - Community Engagement and Community Relations CECR (Comms to most of us)

What is the volunteer team structure (how many in team, he structure and bandings).

I x Manager Band 5, 30 hrs p/m

2 x Administrator Band 3, (1 x 12 hrs p/w & 1 x 13 hrs p/w)

How many volunteers do you have. 400 registered with 300 - 350 regularly volunteering each month

We also look after, Work Experience, Doctor Shadowing, NHS Ambassadors, and all career events.
