Evidenced Outcome

Increased functional fitness

Evidence point

The patients in the programme were evaluated using several functional health measures, including a 60-second Sit-to-Stand test, Timed Up and Go test, and 180 turn (in steps) before and after the programme.

After receiving volunteer support:

Average Stand To Sit movement scores increased from 10.0 to 12.7

Average Timed Up and Go (TUAG) test scores decreased from 34.9 to 32.1.

The average 180 Turn (in steps) test improved from 5.7 to 4.8.

These functional fitness measures indicate an improvement in the patient’s mobility, balance, strength and endurance (n=17).
