Evidenced Outcome
Increased functional fitness
Evidence point
The patients in the programme were evaluated using several functional health measures, including a 30-second Sit-to-Stand test, Timed Up and Go test, and 180 turn (in steps) before and after the programme.
After receiving volunteer support:
Average Stand to Sit movement scores increased from 6.5 to 8.3.
Average Timed Up and Go (TUAG) test scores decreased from 30.8 to 23.7.
Average 180 Turn (in steps) test improved from 6.7 to 5.0.
These functional fitness measures indicate an improvement in patient’s mobility, balance, strength and endurance (n=13).
