The project focussed on Colne Union PCN, an area of deprivation.

In the year prior to the volunteer intervention, the higher the level of deprivation in the area the patient lived in, the more likely they were to not attend their Ophthalmology appointment. However, there was a flattening of this discrepancy during the volunteer intervention.

Additionally, the greatest reduction in DNA rate was also for those living in quintile 1 (the most deprived in the Index of Multiple Deprivation), seeing a 29% relative reduction.
